Kailash is a mountain located near Sin La Pass in Pithoragarh, India. It
is also known as Shiv Kailash, Baba Kailash, Chhota Kailash, or Jyolingkong
Peak

The starting point of the Adi Kailash trek is Kutti
Village
, and the base camp is located 14 kilometers from there.
Situated at an altitude of 5,945 meters (19,505 feet) above sea level,
it is one of the highest peaks of the Kailash mountain range.

The newly constructed Gunji–Lampiya Dhura Pass Road
(GLDPR)
has made the Adi Kailash Yatra significantly easier and more
accessible for pilgrims. Due to this motorable road, travel time and physical
exhaustion have reduced greatly, allowing devotees to reach the sacred site
comfortably and without difficulty.

Because of this road, the trekking distance to Adi Kailash
has been reduced to just 4 kilometers, and a beautiful viewpoint of
Om Parvat
is also accessible from here.

🪪 Inner Line Permit (ILP)

An Inner Line Permit is mandatory for the Adi Kailash
and Om Parvat Yatra, as the region falls under a restricted zone near the
India–Tibet border. These permits are issued by the SDM office in Dharchula
and are compulsory.

The permit includes details such as traveler’s name,
father’s name, age, permit number
, and approved duration of stay beyond
Dharchula
. Pilgrims must present the permit at all 10 check posts
during the journey.


🔱 Historical & Mythological Significance of Adi Kailash – Abode of Lord Shiva

It is strongly believed that Adi Kailash is the earthly
abode of Lord Shiva
, who is part of the Hindu Trinity. According to
folklore, Lord Shiva meditated on this sacred land for thousands of years.
Hence, it is believed that Lord Shiva still resides here, reflecting His deep
bond with Goddess Parvati.
